Lung Cancer Network

Following the INC's participation in the European CraNE Joint Action, a national network for the treatment of lung cancer in Luxembourg is gradually being set up.

Since 2023, the INC has been working on this initiative in close collaboration with four hospitals (CHL, CHdN, CHEM, HRS), the national radiotherapy center Centre François Baclesse, and the Laboratoire national de santé.

Diagnosis Announcement

The aim of this collaborative project, “Diagnosis Announcement,” is to implement concrete tools to improve the process of announcing a cancer diagnosis in Luxembourg. It originated from the second National Cancer Plan (PNC2), specifically Axis 3, which is dedicated to patient rights, information, and training.

The Institut National du Cancer exists in Luxembourg to federate and animate those involved in cancer research, while structuring the fields of prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and end-of-life care. Founded on June 25, 2015, this Luxembourg non-profit association, recognized as a public utility, is mandated by the Ministry of Health.

Committed and determined, INC acts as a pivotal player in the fight against cancer and supportive care. With integrity and neutrality, it brings together healthcare professionals, certifies care providers and disseminates recommendations to harmonize best practices for the benefit of patients. Moving towards a more humane and tailored diagnosis announcement: a workshop to join forces and develop future tools in Luxembourg

As part of Plan National Cancer 2, the Institut National du Cancer organized a co-construction workshop with patients and their relatives to devise practical tools aimed at improving the way cancer diagnoses are communicated. Five prototypes were discussed, and the next steps include the creation, dissemination, and adoption of these tools, with feedback expected in 2026.

Le projet « Annonce du Diagnostic », dans le cadre du Plan National Cancer 2 (PNC2) sous l’axe 3 – Droits, Information et Formation des Patients, a pour objectif d’améliorer l’expérience des patients et de leurs proches lors de l’un des moments les plus importants du parcours de soins : l’annonce d’un diagnostic de cancer. Il vise à garantir que cette annonce soit faite de manière bienveillante, claire et rassurante, en respectant les besoins émotionnels et d’information des patients tout en favorisant la confiance entre les patients et les professionnels de santé.
