An important milestone has been reached in the fight against cancer in Luxembourg with the official launch of the project to establish a Luxembourg Pilot Center for Cancer Control (CCC), as part of the European EUNetCCC project.

The bilateral meeting between representatives of Work Package 4 of EUNetCCC and Luxembourg CCC stakeholders was held last Monday at the Institut National du Cancer in Luxembourg. This founding event not only marks the start of the pilot project, but also constitutes a genuine platform for collaboration and innovation in the field of oncology.

The Pilot Center is based on an integrated model structured around a strong triangle: care, research, and education. This approach aims to ensure comprehensive and coordinated cancer care, while strengthening support for patients and their families. During this first meeting, participants identified concrete areas for improvement and co-developed solutions to address the challenges associated with implementing the model.

The CCC embodies a renewed commitment to improving care, developing innovative research, and promoting continuing education for both healthcare professionals and patients. This pilot project positions Luxembourg as a committed player in the evolution of oncology care standards, in close collaboration with its European partners.

We warmly thank all the institutions involved in this collaborative initiative: Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg, Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch, Hôpitaux Robert Schuman, Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHdN), Centre François Baclesse, Luxembourg Centre for Translational Research (LCTR), University of Luxembourg, National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ), Oslo University Hospital (OUS), University of Tartu (UT), Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS), DiSA, and Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH).

We look forward to continuing this collective work in order to build, together, a more equitable, innovative, and humane approach to cancer care in Luxembourg and beyond.
