A Day of Productive Exchanges to Strengthen the Fight Against Cancer in Luxembourg

On 15 December 2025, the National Cancer Institute had the pleasure of organizing the Luxembourg Consortium Annual Meeting (LCAM) at the Melià Hotel. his half-day working session brought together representatives of our key partners : Ministry of Health and Social Security (M3S), the Directorate of Health (DiSa), Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL), Hôpitaux Robert Schuman (HRS), Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrich (CHEM), Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHdN), Centre François Baclesse (CFB), Centre de Réhabilitation du Château de Colpach (CRCC), Laboratoire National de la Santé (LNS), Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and University of Luxembourg (Uni.lu), around a shared objective: to move forward collectively in the field of oncology in Luxembourg by leveraging European projects.

The programme was rich and diverse, featuring presentations on the progress made in 2025 within the EUnetCCC, JANE-2, EU-CIP and ECHoS projects, as well as the definition of our perspectives for 2026.

These discussions confirmed the importance of breaking down silos, strengthening national collaboration, and further involving patients, caregivers, and civil society to improve cancer care, research, and education.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to observe, through our partners’ experiences, how European projects serve as genuine drivers for improving national practices. During a workshop applying the KISS methodology (Keep, Improve, Start, Stop), we identified the key challenges and future needs for the coming years.

With the aim of continuously supporting collaboration, this process concluded with the definition of several good practices designed to maximize the benefits of these projects.

We therefore close the year proud of the actions carried out and motivated for the challenges ahead in 2026, in particular:

  • Continued meetings of the working groups within the Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CCC) pilot framework (NSG – National Support Group)
  • Deployment of the care network for gynaecological cancers
  • Recognition of the National Cancer Mission Hub (NCMH)
  • Launch of the cancerinfo.lu platform, complementing the European EU-CIP portal
  • Strengthening our communication activities towards a more transversal approach

Our sincere thanks go to all our partners for their commitment and valuable contributions. Together, we are building a stronger future for oncology in Luxembourg.
